This is Not What You Want to Hear…

There is nothing I hate more than being ‘sold’ too…

You know what I mean… When you’re on the receiving end of an over-zealous salesman’s machine gun patter. Those high pressure sales situations where with every answer to your questions you get the distinct impression that you’re only being told what he thinks you want to hear… Whether the truth comes into it or not!

All I want to do in those situations is get out of there.

Now, there is of course some salesmanship involved in what I’m doing here but I like to think I’m coming at it from a different angle…

The reason I like creating the in-depth video reviews of the boats that I sell, is exactly because I don’t have to ‘sell’ to anybody.

There are no customers standing in front of me… I can’t and don’t skew my presentation to suit the needs of a particular customer; be that a family man, elderly couple, young buck… whoever.

And I’m not telling you what you want to hear. I’m telling it like it is. I’m pointing out what’s good about the boat, what’s bad about the boat, what it can do and what I like about it. I’m not trying to sugar coat anything and I’m certainly not trying to hide anything, in fact it’s the complete opposite.

I want to show you everything there is to see, so that if you show up to look at the boat, there’s no surprises and best of all, I don’t even have to ‘sell’ to you then.

In fact, if you ever come to GulfStream HQ to view a boat of ours, here’s how it’ll go down…

You arrive & I show you the boat, switch on the power and let you inside. Then I offer you a cup of tea or coffee and I piss off to get the tea. This takes me to the cafe around the corner, because we abandoned our kitchen to the mice years ago! (I have trouble enough getting my guys to clean boats, let alone the kitchen)

I return with the tea about 15 or 20mins later and I’ll ask you if you have any questions. I’ll answer them as truthfully as I can and I’ll either leave you to go over the boat in peace again or we can talk about the next steps if you’re ready.

If you are ready to do a deal, great. If not we’ll part on good terms.

… That’s it.

There is no sales pitch, there’s no pressure and there’s no drama.

…Life’s too short for all that shit.

At the end of the day, boating is about having fun and enjoying your down time. And I reckon that should start with the buying process. If you’re not enjoying the process of buying the boat, forget about it.

I’d rather have a chat with you about where you boat and what you do than bang on any more about the boat we’re looking at.
